Dr. Regina Masiello is an Associate Teaching Professor in the English Department's Writing Program at Rutgers University. Her Ph.D. is in Early Modern Literature, and for over a decade she directed the first-year writing course at Rutgers (Expository Writing). Dr. Masiello also directed the Rutgers Writing Centers for two years, where she developed an online Writing Center designed to provide undergrads with meaningful writing feedback during the pandemic. She has worked in high schools across the state on behalf of the Writing Program Institute (WPI), the public facing arm of the Rutgers Writing Program. As Co-founder and as Director of the WPI, she provided professional development to ELA teachers, facilitated an annual Summer College for high school writing teachers, and ran a dual enrollment program across the state that supported seniors taking Expository Writing in their final year of high school. She has helped districts revise ELA curricula, develop writing assessment practices, and build best practices for writing instruction. Working with students at Rutgers and at Write Well Studios is her passion, and both her classroom and the studio are dedicated to developing critical thinking and establishing writing practices that transfer from class to class, from discipline to discipline, and from the academic setting into the professional world. In 2017, Dr. Masiello received The Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Humanities at Rutgers University, and you can review her full Curriculum Vitae (CV) by visiting her Rutgers faculty page.
